Jessica Harmon Dec 2010 corset dressFor many, 2010 has been a difficult year.  With the economy in a state which has not been seen for nearly a century, joy and celebration were two things that seemed far out of reach.  Fortunately, it seems that things have finally started to look up.  As we prepare for the coming of a new year, it is time to shake off the depression and sense of impending doom and to reveal a sparkling hope for this year, and many years to come. To bring light from the darkness, the only solution is simply to shine from head to toe.

Face your troubles in crystal drenched stilettos, and they will know you mean business.  From Betsey Johnson comes a shoe perfect for any holiday party, or any other day if your name happens to be Dorothy.  The Ruby Pumps With Crystals offer brilliant sparkle in a classic holiday color.  For those on a less restricted budget, there is no better option with the Pave Iridescent Pump from Giuseppe Zanotti.  A neutral color slathered with twinkling crystals will bring you straight into a fantasy world of beauty and magic.

While shoes are certainly a very important aspect, do not stop there, because everyone loves a little black dress, but this season begs for color and shine.  Twelfth St. by Cynthia Vincent presents with a fluid corset dress so beautiful that you may actually try to unwrap it.  Shimmering unbelievably in liquid purple lame`, this strapless dress features exquisite pleating and a feminine side ruffle.  If you simply must wear black, opt for a true dazzler like the Tibi One Shoulder Dress, which comes dripping in brilliant paillettes.  Pleating and a banded waist bring this mini dress to life making it the perfect holiday treat.

Aside from looking spectacular, the holiday season also means keeping warm.  Just because you may be walking through a blizzard, that is no excuse to skimp on brilliant design details.  The Riley Coat from ALICE by Temperly features metallic banding and paillettes that shine ever so brightly against the simple black wool.  The military inspired details will keep you strong and beautiful all winter long.  For those who wish to be free of sequins, crystals and metallic thread, a trendy red jacket by M Missoni will create a glow that shines from the inside out.  With beautiful details including, three-quarter sleeves and an exaggerated shawl collar, the Belted Jacket in holiday red is versatile and lovely.  Pair it with a party dress and sparkling jewels or a cozy sweater and jeans for a more casual look.  Either way, perfection will be achieved.

You have the shoes, dress and outerwear for a wonderfully blissful holiday season and prosperous New Year.  Even with the perfect ensemble, one must never neglect beauty.  Tarina Tarantino will have your eyes twinkling in a manner that will make the starry winter night envious.  The sheer pink powder cleverly named Sparklicity Pure is subtle, yet mysteriously brilliant with sparkle.  Use to highlight eyes, cheeks and even cleavage for a truly dazzling holiday look.

With so many beautiful choices, there is no reason for this holiday season to bring anything but joy.  Brush off any negativity from the past year as you slip into a sequined dress and shimmering jacket.  Most importantly, do not forget the embellished stilettos.  In the words of the great Marilyn, “Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world.”  After all, the woman knew a thing or two about glamour.
