Adi Braun Live!

January 11, 2008, Adi Braun at Hugh's Room in Toronto, Canada

Adi Braun launched her new CD “Adi Braun - Live at the Metropolitan Room” at Toronto’s Hugh’s Room, with a sold-out, two-set, show on January 11, 2008,  coinciding with the 35th Annual International Association of Jazz Educators conference.

Braun was accompanied by the impressive Dave Restivo on piano, and the incomparable and soulful George Koller on bass. She mesmerized the audience with her clear, bright vocals which highlighted her significant range, incredible dexterity and impeccable phrasing.  Braun performed two of her own stunning original compositions, a magical assortment of jazz and blues standards, as well as an intimate song by American songwriter Felix van Dijk  (“Easy to Breathe). Braun showcased her extraordinary talents - song after song.

Highlights included the singer’s arresting interpretation of “Besame Mucho,” in which she masterfully conveyed the haunting emotions of youthful desire, in an erotically charged musical dance, with Koller’s explosive and spontaneous performance.  Equally unforgettable were two of Braun’s original compositions, “Ocean Eyes,” and “Grace.” The songs uniquely fuse pop, jazz and melodic, yet inventive harmonies, which compliment the poetic and emotionally poignant lyrics.

The album, “Adi Braun - Live at the Metropolitan Room” is Braun’s best performance to date.  It ranks as one of the finest ‘live’ vocal performances ever. Adi Braun’s talents shine during live performances, and there is no better way to fully appreciate the singer with the evocative vocals than sitting in on the release of her live CD. She delivered an awe-inspiring performance that will be remembered by her fans for a long time.
