Jazz veteran Chester Thomas presents his newest CD Paradise: 2 Good To Go as rebirth, and it is a collaboration of rhythm and groovy bass, with energetic earth funk. Paradise: 2 Good To Go is a perfect name for the CD, because the sound of the drums and the echoing chimes create the illusion of a beautiful tropical paradise in the listener’s mind.  The songs on Paradise are very upbeat and dance friendly, perfect for a patio or balcony tropical party, while you enjoy great weather and umbrella drinks with friends. Suddenly you are awakened from your fantasy world by a cymbal blast at the end of each song, jolting you back to reality.

 

The album Paradise: 2 Good To Go, serves as a wonderful ‘getaway,’ soundtrack for those times when you want to steal away and although the words to these songs are predictable, each one can hold its own by virtue of their musical merit, and the theme remains positive. Even Thomas’ song “Cloudy,” possesses a playful sound that one would welcome on a cloudy day.

 

Chester Thomas delivers ten tracks of jazz / funk tunes that are enjoyable, and he utilizes percussion wisely to create a seamless foundation for the rest of the instruments.
